장 비고 전집 The Complete Jean Vigo

 

'라탈랑트'라는 이름의 바지선을 타고 여행하는 젊은 선원 부부의 사랑과 헤어짐, 재회를 다룬 아름다운 영화. 겨울철의 악천후 속에서 힘들게 촬영을 강행했지만 눈과 안개, 밤하늘, 잠깐의 햇빛 등 모든 것을 영화에 담으면서 오히려 꿈과 같이 매혹적인 영화로 완성해냈다. 제작사에 의해 20분 정도 삭제당한 상태로 개봉되었으며 촬영 당시부터 건강이 악화되어있던 장 비고는 개봉 한 달 후 폐혈증으로 세상을 떠났다. 완전한 복원판이 나오기까지 많은 우여곡절을 겪은 비운의 걸작으로 세계 영화사의 보석이라 하기에 부족함이 없는 작품이다.
